Document summary
The accident in Fukushima reactor pushed many countries to reassess their nuclear energy policy. This poses challenges for other types of renewable sources to compensate the energy that is now produced by nuclear in order to not have to turn to fossil fuels. This report assesses the possible implications of changes in nuclear policy and the potential of current renewable energy technologies to fulfill the world’s needs. The report is based on an interview with Dr. Rolf Iten, an expert from INFRAS, a research center based in Zurich which does research on socio-economic issues and environmental policy.
